I wanted to depict Rapunzel, not just in her typical iconic pose, but as a character imprisoned as much by her vanity (her beautiful hair) as by the witch. Why didn't she just cut her hair and make a ladder to escape after all? I did bend the story a little and add in a small stained glass window in the tower with the rampion bellflower from which her name was derived. All details are created with copperfoil overlay on the front of the glass and back of the glass for shadows. The panel is framed in a walnut and maple light box.
